‘Tis the season of giving…

As the year draws to an end and the ‘season of giving’ is upon us, it’s a good time to reflect on the Guardrisk team’s social responsibility initiative. Known as Lebone (meaning ‘the light’), this project allows Guardrisk staff to give something back to those less fortunate than themselves.

It is indeed heartening to see the enthusiasm with which staff donate their time and resources to brighten the lives of others. In 2011 Lebone undertook two projects and a third project is planned before year end.

Earlier this year, working in conjunction with Jozi FM, Lebone donated scarves, blankets, beanies, clothes and grocery hampers to needy households in Soweto; 130 people (of all ages) benefitted from this project.

On Mandela Day, Lebone and Jozi FM donated clothing, scarves and beanies to the elderly in Soweto and members of the Guardrisk team spent the day with the old folk, providing entertainment, food and lots of fun.

Embracing the words of Sir Winston Churchill: “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give”, the Guardrisk team draws immense pride and satisfaction from its Lebone project.
